Until now, Ari’s budget lineup had multiple models sharing the same frame, but different names based on spec and travel. Now, their entry point into full-suspension trail bikes is fully updated with a shapely new frame and a single name – The Cascade Peak. The new Ari Cascade Peak’s frame is air- and hydro-formed to delivery a stiff, responsive frame with modern aesthetics. It’s most noticeable at the top tube and head tube junction, but note the seattube’s bulge and shaping, too. That effort gives it a better second water bottle placement, letting you get two bottles on all frame sizes. The ..read more

Wheels Manufacturing is branching out well beyond bottom brackets and shop tools. Their Sea Otter booth was packed full of prototypes aboard a gorgeous Sanitas Cycles hardtail, with cranks, pedals, a chainring bash guard, headset, and seatpost collar. They also have new Solo Cog singlespeed cogs and adapters, and new shop tools, too. They weren’t sharing a lot of info on the prototype parts, but the cranks look sleek and slim, with a bit of chiseling on the backside to save weight The topography details are machined in, not printed, which is a unique touch. Note that it’s also holding a Whee ..read more

Ahead of the Tour de France, there are a lot of new features in the works for the virtual training world known as Zwift. The program and app continue to develop and add new features. Perhaps the writing was on the wall earlier this year when Zwift laid off more than 100 employees, but now Zwift has announced a price increase as well. Previously, a month of Zwift subscription would run $14.99 here in the United States. That price has now increased to $19.99 per month, a 33% increase. The price of an annual subscription has also increased, from $149.99 to $199.99. You’re still getting essential ..read more

A little over a year ago, I did a story about Colorado’s Sanitas Bikes. The article covered their new at-the-time Root, a classic titanium-framed hardtail mountain bike. Well, the news is, that they’re at it again with their latest offering, the new Tap Root Hardtail. The Tap Root is a Hardtail with clearance for 2.6″ tires, that is at home on mountain singletrack, an XC race, or a bikepacking adventure. (Photos/Sanitas Bikes) To start, Sanitas claims that the Tap Root is the most versatile model in their lineup. It uses modern geometry and can be set up with a 120mm travel fork. News outta Boulder, Colorado, DEAN Ultimate Bikes (DEAN) announced that it had updated its bike line and “RetroFresh”ed its website and visual aesthetics. “DEAN Ultimate Bicycles was our original concept. We are bringing the focus back to our roots in creating top-tier titanium bikes while hitting that nostalgic sweet spot that made us all love these bikes over the decades.” I somehow missed covering DEAN at last year’s MADE Show, but apparently, that’s where they launched the prototypes of modernized flagship designs. Designs like the Colonel and the El Diente for example. Torreys gravel bik ..read more

Chris King Gen 4 Hubs Get Universal Parts, Swapping Driveshells Now Easier & Cheaper
Bike Rumor

Chris King has always been about making the most precise components – it’s right there in the name. Their hubs are works of art, with their patented RingDrive system buzzing away as you coast. But that RingDrive precision came at a cost, namely a more complex service procedure and costly driveshell replacements. Chris King had already phased out their needle-bearing design of the RingDrive system in 2019. Moving from that to a twin-bearing system reduced drag by more than 20% and made for a system that was lighter and easier to manufacture. The issue was that adapting the current hub design ..read more

Landing a backflip is a dream of many young mountain bikers. Very few of those riders go on to landing a double backflip. But a quadruple? That’s just nuts. Or it’s just the natural progression of the sport when you’re as dedicated as Christian Arehart. Following Jed Mildon’s quad flip on a BMX bike in 2015, Christian just became the first person to land a quad flip on a mountain bike. The jump went down at Mid America Outdoors after Christian drove his own ramp cross-country to take on the challenge. After dialing it in on the airbags, Christian landed the quad flip to the massive resi landi ..read more

Wheelie poppers rejoice! The new Sunset Bar handlebar from the Minnesota bike deviants, Surly Bikes, is both wide (820mm) and tall (110mm rise). This new bar resembles a huge, wide BMX bar that would be perfect for cyclists who prefer an upright riding position. (Photos/Surly Bikes) The New Sunset Bars are a play on the earlier Sunrise Bars that Surly released back in 2019. But, when Surly set out to make this bar with more back sweep, upsweep, and rise. Being upright and durable, this bar would be great for that old 90s MTB with low stack height or a low steer tube that you’ve been eyeballi ..read more
