10 Years of Blogging, Good Bye!

Ten years ago in March 2009 I decided to start a blog.  Blogs were just starting to get popular and it was the beginning of a social media revolution.  You see I have always loved fashion and dreamt as a young girl to go to fashion school and have a career in fashion one day.  Well that dream never happened, mostly because I was the one who gave up on my own dream. Growing up as nerdy, chubby Latina girl in the ghetto of LA, that dream seemed as impossible as going to the moon.  No one ever encouraged me, mostly laughed at me, but worst of all I believed all those naysayer ..read more

This a sponsored post by cars.com  Winter is almost here, although it doesn't mean much living in Southern California since we have very mild winters. We do however get some rain and those dreaded Santa Ana winds, varying conditions can make driving difficult and even dangerous. One way to make sure you are safe while driving is having your tires be in good condition.  I recently had to purchase new tires for my Prius. My job involves tons of driving all over the county and can drive more than miles in one day. I had noticed my tires starting to look a little worn down and didn't w ..read more

Fab 40's is back and sadly it may be our last post. We have lost a few members for personal reasons and seems like we lost our mojo too. The last remaining members have decided to end the Fab 40's for now and take a break.  So lets say good bye with a sneak peek of Autumn/Fall colors. Summer is soon coming to end, but seems like we have been getting hit with heat all around. Kind hard to think about cozy fall clothes when your city is getting record high heat. I do love fall colors and styles, but for now lets just stick with the colors. Autumn colors are rich and saturated hues that ar ..read more

I'm a little late with this post, but this time I have a really good excuse!  Started working again this week after almost 6 months of unemployment. Thank you sweet baby Jesus. So yeah, those super early wake up calls, morning/evening commutes and getting use to a new routine has me a bit out of sort this week. I am so grateful to be working again, but I just can't stay up late working on the blog and then get up super early like I use to! Those days are gone, ah Fab 40's you making me look like an old lady....LOL Any how this month theme chosen by Diane is DIY!  I have wanted to ..read more

Finding Your Favorite Color - The Fab 40's

It's time for another installment of The Fab 40's!  This month we took it a bit easy, Ann chose the theme, to create an outfit with our favorite color. Seems easy enough right?  Well immediately I knew the answer would be black for me. Some may argue black is not a real "color"  but hey for some of us it is! As usual I like to challenge my self a bit when doing the Fab 40's post each month. I decided not to go with black, since probably more than half of my wardrobe is black, this would indeed be a challenge.  OK so what other colors do I love.  One of my current ..read more

Last weekend I had the pleasure of attending the Torrid Pool Party in Orange County, CA.  I was invited by Marcy Cruz as her plus one....yay!  Marcy who blogs at Fearlessly Just Me and is the blog editor of Plus Model Magazine, came to LA and wanted to make sure we hung out. Well what better place and event to hang out than the Torrid Pool Party.  I had met Marcy briefly at an event in LA many years ago. Since then we have maintained in contact via Facebook and social media.  Once I heard she was coming to my side of town, I wanted to see her and really get to spend some ..read more

The Fab 40's is back this month with another style challenge. This month was my turn to choose a theme, since we all had so much fun with last months "Princess" theme. I wanted to play off that theme and chose "Villains" for April. It was fun to find our inner princess and play off our more sweet and innocent side, but its more fun to be bad!!! We all have a dark side to us, some of us show it more than others, but we ALL have an inner Villain! Mine is called "Maleficent" she is my inspiration for this months Fab 40's challenge.  After I chose this theme, it made me think how am I ..read more

I'm happy to return to the blog with this years first FAB 40's challenge. If you haven't been following the blog, last year I joined an international group of fashion bloggers over 40. Every month we choose a theme and each blogger features their own interpretation. This month Mary from Curlybyrdie Chirps chose the theme, true to her feminine style she gave us the challenge of leather and lace. A little bit of femininity with some touches of edginess. Leather and lace are items I do incorporate in my wardrobe, however don't think I have ever combine them into one outfit. This month truly wa ..read more

This is a sponsored post featuring Avenue. All opinions expressed are my own.  When it comes to fashion, sometimes there's nothing better than basic pieces you can remix. As a fashion blogger I feel basic pieces get over looked for the trendy and more elaborate clothing items. I live in jeans with simple tees and blouses. Basic clothing doesn't have to be boring and can absolutely look stylish. Today I am featuring some basic wardrobe pieces courtesy of Avenue, jeans with a striped top that can be simple and comfortable yet stylish and fun.  Avenue has been a go to retailer w ..read more
