Discovery Institute: Their Latest Fallacy | The Sensuous Curmudgeon

As you know, your Curmudgeon has been struggling with the new editor here at WordPress, and we’ve also been struggling to restore the old classic editor.  Nothing works.  Oh, we can write — as we’re doing now, but we can’t do links, and we can’t correctly format excerpts from other blogs and articles. So where does that leave us? Well, we can’t keep blogging as we used to.  That’s not much of a catastrophe.  We’ve mentioned before that creationism isn’t what it used to be.  In recent years, there haven’t been many creationist laws introduced into state legislatures — a ..read more

Hambo Tells You Where Meet a Good Christian Girl
Discovery Institute: Their Latest Fallacy | The Sensuous Curmudgeon
by The Curmudgeon

This one isn’t very thrilling, but it’s the best we can find.  It’s at the website of Ken Ham (ol’ Hambo) — the ayatollah of Appalachia, the world’s holiest man who knows more about religion and science than everyone else. His website appears to be totally re-arranged, and it’s a bit difficult finding our way around there.  Anyway, his post from January 1 is titled:  Is Ark Encounter One of the “Best Places to Meet a Good Christian Girl”?  Because of the glorious new software here at WordPress, we’re not even going to try giving you a link to Hambo’s article. If you want to ..read more

As you can see, we’re struggling with the WordPress new editor, so bear with us. That link is amazingly ugly, but it works. Here are some excerpts from the Discoveroid blog article, with bold font added by us for emphasis, and occasional Curmudgeonly interjections that look [like ..read more

Blundering Around Free Fire Zone
Discovery Institute: Their Latest Fallacy | The Sensuous Curmudgeon
by The Curmudgeon

Your Curmudgeon has been blundering around trying to re-install the “Classic Editor,” but none of the procedures seem to work. So instead of that, we’re using the “Classic Block” feature of the new editor. This might work, or it might not.  Anyway, we’ve been checking the news and the usual creationist websites, and we haven’t missed anything. In the meanwhile, please use this post as an Intellectual Free-Fire Zone. As with all our free-fire zones, we’re open for the discussion of pretty much anything — science, politics, economics, whatever — as long as it’s tasteful and interesting. Ban ..read more

More About Mike Johnson, Speaker of the House
Discovery Institute: Their Latest Fallacy | The Sensuous Curmudgeon
by The Curmudgeon

Our friends at the National Center for Science Education (NCSE) have posted an authoritative article about Mike Johnson, America’s new Speaker of the House.  There were many bloggers who posted nearly hysterical articles about him, but we restrained ourselves and posted about him only once — and concluded by saying: “The new Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives appears to be a flaming creationist. Make of it what you will.” There’s not much reason to restrain ourselves any longer. NCSE’s article is <a href=”https://ncse.ngo/how-mike-johnson-helped-open-door-creationism-lou ..read more

Creationist Wisdom #1,102: Evolution Is Impossible
Discovery Institute: Their Latest Fallacy | The Sensuous Curmudgeon
by The Curmudgeon
5M ago
We found this one in The Chronicle, a three-day-a-week newspaper in Centralia, Washington. It’s a “Letter to the Editor” titled Is belief in the theory of evolution realistic?, and they don’t have a comments feature. Unless the writer is a politician, preacher, or other public figure, we won’t embarrass or promote him by using his full name. We’re not sure who today’s writer is, because we can’t find him by searching on his name, and the newspaper doesn’t say anything about him. We’ll only use his first name, which is Doug. He’s from Onalaska, Wisconson (or maybe Onalaska, Washington) . Excerp ..read more

Look what we found in the Dallas Morning News. It’s a “Letter to the Editor” titled Plausible and logical, and the newspaper doesn’t seem to have a comments feature. Unless the writer is a politician, preacher, or other public figure, we won’t embarrass or promote him by using his full name. We’re not sure who today’s writer is, because we can’t find him by searching on his name, and the newspaper doesn’t identify him. We’ll only use his first name, which is Bill. Excerpts from his letter will be enhanced with our Curmudgeonly commentary, some bold font for emphasis, and occasional Curmudgeonl ..read more
