Nicole the Math Lady has literally transformed the math experience for my oldest daughter.
Carrianna started in Kindergarten using Horizons, and then we switched to Teaching Textbooks. While I loved how hands off Teaching Textbook was, I realized after a few years that my children were not learning the math facts and actually having them stick, and it just wasn’t challenging them enough. We stopped using Teaching Textbooks a few years ago, and I’ve seen a lot of math growth since we switched.
I used Saxon when I was being homeschooled. I struggled understanding math and there was not nearly th ..read more

If you love the Charlotte Mason method like I do, you might be instantly thinking “wait a minute! Charlotte Mason doesn’t recommend math for preschool age!”
You are correct. However, keep reading to see what type of math I’m talking about, and what sort of things I do with my 4 year old to satisfy her desires for math!
Charlotte Mason was a British educator who was born in the 1800’s. She really went against the mainstream thinking of education at the time, and I really respect her for the work she did. I’ve read most of her books, and found them to be books I go back to over and over again f ..read more

Taking care of our health, and the health of our family is such an important part of being a wife and mother. It’s not easy to know the right way, so I just want to share with you how I take care of our family.
We rarely take our children to the doctor. We have an amazing MD that I trust, but I’ve learned over the years how to treat my children at home for so many of the common childhood illnesses.
Here are some ways that I do that. Please note, this is not medical advice, I’m simply sharing what has worked for my family.

I feel like the question of how to stay warm in a skirt comes up every winter. My answer is always the same, and I’m here to tell you about the best leggings to wear with skirts to stay warm in the winter months!
Leggings under skirts is the answer!
Leggings are the easiest way to stay warm in the winter months, but I never wear them by themselves! Instead, they go under my skirt or dress to stay cute, but warm all winter long!
I love that I can feel snuggly and stay so warm while wearing a knee length denim skirt.
You can’t argue with the fact that leggings are so comfortable. However, you ca ..read more

Who doesn’t love fresh, warm bread right out of the oven? It’s even better when you know it’s been made to be as nutritious and healthy for you as it possibly can be.
I grew up with a mom who loved to make homemade bread. She took a lot of joy in providing us with healthy bread, and there was (and is!) nothing better than butter on a slice of fresh, warm bread!
After awhile she invested in a grain grinder. It was a loud, messy grinder and I’ll never forget her wearing ear muffs to grind flour.
I invested in the same grinder in my early years of marriage (since it’s really all I knew), but the ..read more

It’s hard to believe that we are already at the point of needing to dive into our next school year, but August is here and I’m doing all the planning and purchasing! This year I’m very excited to start fresh with new books, as we go back to my homeschool roots with a solid Charlotte Mason curriculum.
(Read through to the end for an amazing Homeschool Giveaway to Great Christian Books!).
I was homeschooled all of my life, and my high school years were spent being taught using the Charlotte Mason method. I have many amazing memories of my homeschool experience. I loved doing copywork (even in hi ..read more

Summer and modest swimsuits for teen girls are a hard combination! Between trying to find a swimsuit that your teen girl approves of as being cute, and one modest enough that mom approves of, you can end up with a headache!
Thankfully we tried out Modli this year for our 13 year old daughter and it was a huge success! Not only does our daughter love her swimsuit, but it’s parent approved!
The quality is really good. The top and skirt are very comfortable, and I think they will hold up for a long time! I see this being passed down to younger girls when Carrianna outgrows it.
We ordered the M ..read more
