Tent Recommendations

Hi friends :) I’m looking to get myself a backpacking tent for backcountry trips, international trips and some through hikes one day. I sometimes go solo but would like the flexibility of having a 2 person tent. I like the tents that have mesh/see through walls and roof. I was looking to get a 5 pound tent on Amazon (Clostnature) for $75, but am wondering if I should just invest a bit more and get a nicer tent. I’d love to cut down on weight but I definitely don’t want to spend more than $250/$300 cos I’m willing to carry an extra pound or two not to buy a $500-700 tent. I’d love to hear y’al ..read more

A modular system that includes (their) hiking poles as part of the setup. https://petapixel.com/2024/04/22/the-ulanzi-tt35-hiking-tripod-offers-five-in-one-functionality/ Hiking poles, mini tripod, monopod, tripod, selfie stick, and the ability to use all 3 poles together for an 11½ foot long high angle pole. Useful for a unique shot when drones aren't allowed. Up for preorder now. https://www.ulanzi.com/products/hiking-tripod-kit-tt35?variant=45007765045469&sscid=41k8_sj3kf& Interesting concept, and $199 isn't all that much for the complete system, realistically. submitted by /u/0ut ..read more

What's the deal with “bear proof” storage?

I'm looking for my first bear-proof storage container, and I'm reading lots of reviews and noticed that some are not permitted in a lot of parks. I also know that nothing is “bear-proof” but I am curious what storage containers is the best but also permitted in most places. I'm a buy once cry once kind of guy so I'm open to anything, as long as it'll last me a lifetime. I live Canada, but also want one that is permitted in US parks too. submitted by /u/Koifmonster [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
