I’ve been slowly knitting on and off for the first three months of this year. My elbow was bothering me and I knew it was because of knitting, so the only proper thing I could do is rest. So instead of voraciously knitting, I’ve been reading again. My friend Kiki got me to read Rebecca Yarros’ Fourth Wing and Iron Flame books and then immediately turned me on to Sarah J. Maas and her fantasy world. Since November I’ve been all about the fantasy + romance series, even switching over to audiobooks while I knit (Kindle’s Whispersync function is beautiful, it automatically syncs where I read and w ..read more

A Matching Set

The other week I shared the hoodie I made for my husband. He is definitely knit worthy and is such a good sport when I make matching dog sweaters and we take family pics. Honestly, he’s the best. So I knew when I finished his Montrealer hoodie, Kiwi was going to need a coordinating hoodie to match because why not?! I used the Otis pattern from my favorite book of dog knits and all the same Berroco Vintage yarn I had as leftovers. I did a similar striping pattern as on Kendell’s hoodie. Instead of making it an exact replica, I switched up the colors so she would stand out a bit more when he wa ..read more

I have realized I need a lot of cardigans in my wardrobe. So you’re probably going to see a lot of them this year. My university and the heat levels are a challenge and layers are my friend. My office is freezing but my classrooms are warm and I want to be able to just take off a layer or add a layer so I can still wear my hand knits. My problem with cardigans is I don’t love purling and I don’t want to steek everything either since I tend to knit a lot with superwash. But I found a garter stitch cardigan I really like and already want to make another version. This is the Baseline Sweater by S ..read more

Hello! And welcome to 2024. 2023 felt like a blur, so much happened and to be honest, I was exhausted through the majority of it. I ended the year getting a hysterectomy and I started this year having way more energy than I have had in the last three years! Who knew giving your uterus the boot could be so beneficial to my health?! While I was recuperating in December I switched up the project I was working on. Originally, I started knitting my husband a lovely Woolly Waffle Pullover, but after frogging a twisted rib neckline I decided it needed to go in timeout for a bit. During that time my h ..read more

Remember the oversized Oblique sweater I knit earlier this year? I loved it so much I knew I wanted to cast on another one but with less ease. I decided I wanted it to be green on green and I pulled a skein of Miss Babs Yowza in Oz I’ve had FOREVER and paired it with the Wandering Flock’s Neon Kelly and then I fell in love with this sweater all over again. Meet my second Oblique. But here’s the thing…I still had enough scraps leftover to make a matching sweater and I decided I would make one for Kiwi! This isn’t her first sweater, I am actually writing about her first sweater for the ladies a ..read more

Rhinebeck Weekend 2023

I’m back after a lovely long weekend with my girlfriends in Rhinecliff, New York. If you haven’t had an opportunity to go to a big fiber festival like NY Sheep and Wool, I do recommend it. I actually only bought one sweater quantity of yarn but it was still fun to see all the yarn, tools, pins, accessories and people. I also go to Maryland Sheep and Wool every May and have been to some of the smaller festivals in the area too. Sometimes you just want to see it in person, plus it’s about spending time with my girlfriends. I have an interview in the latest issue of Pom Pom magazine, Issue 47 Wi ..read more

I’m interviewed in the new issue of Pom Pom magazine that’s debuting at Rhinebeck and I’ll be in their booth in the book barn from 11:30am – 12:30pm on Saturday. FO: Painted Pullover

I have had the Painted Pullover pattern by Amy Palmer in my want to knit list since it debuted in the now defunct Knit.Purl magazine in 2015. Eight years is a mighty long time to wait for knit a pattern but I never had the right yarn or enough of the right yarn and it kept getting lower and lower on the list. Then I finally gave in and bought myself some yarn I’ve been wanting since I learned about indie dyed yarn, the Wool Kitchen’s BFL superwash in Frida Kahlo. This was one (of many) graduation gifts I gave myself, this gorgeous deep green yarn with little rainbows running throughout and I k ..read more

I know a pattern is really good and I really like it when I am halfway through knitting it and already plotting out the next version. That’s how I feel about the Oblique sweater by Emily Greene. I immediately saw this sweater on the Amirisu Instagram page and thought, well this looks like a Dana sweater. I kept going back to the image and decided I needed to just buy the issue so I could see what it was all about. The construction is clever but not too complicated. It kept me engaged and I’ve been on a serious stripes kick lately. I decided to buy the La Bien Aimee Merino dk in buzz (the bri ..read more
