July 26 – Concacaf has changed its match schedule and venues for the on-going Men’s U-20 Championships in Mexico after a police officer was murdered outside a team hotel in the city of Celaya. The relocation sees Group A teams – United States, Costa Rica, Cuba, and Jamaica – move to León where the final group games will be played at the Estadio León. The shooting took place outside the Cuban team’s hotel with reports saying that armed men pulled up on a motorcycle before opening fire on two police officers guarding the hotel. Real Madrid bust €1bn mark with promise of more to come

July 26 – Real Madrid has reported a 27% rise in operating income for the 2023/24 financial year to €1.073 billion, an increase of €230 million and making it the first football club to break the €1 billion mark. Revenue performance was helped substantially by on-field performance with the first team winning the Champions League for the sixth time, as well as the LaLiga title and the Spanish Super Cup. July 26 – Having removed herself from her country’s opening game against New Zealand, Canada’s Olympic women’s football coach Bev Priestman has been thrown out of the competition and suspended by the country’s football federation as the fallout continues over the alleged drone spying scandal. July 26 – Qatar-owned broadcaster beIN Sports asked for every player in France’s Ligue 1 next season wear a Visit Qatar badge on their shirt for games shown live. The request, according to the Guardian newspaper, was part of negotiations for a  new TV deal and quotes unnamed “multiple sources” claiming it was made by beIN Media Group chairman, Nasser al-Khelaifi, who is also the president of Paris Saint-Germain, during a meeting between the presidents of several clubs this week.
