As an educator for over forty years, I find it deeply troubling that the ATA president blames the rise in in-school violence on underfunding and specifically large class sizes. Typically, a very small percentage of students account for the bulk of discipline problems. It is the current school discipline model and or philosophy that encourages the regular overt defiance that is prevalent in our public schools.
