Yosemite: Sanctuary in Stone
Photographs by William Neill
Foreward by Guy Tal
I’m very excited to announce my next book Yosemite: Sanctuary in Stone. My first Yosemite book, Yosemite: The Promise of Wildness, was published in 1994 and went out of print recently. Now it is finally time to realize this project I dreamed of 20 years ago. I have been a photographer since I purchased my first camera in 1974. I am extremely grateful to still be immersed in the creative process and in the extraordinary beauty in nature I find all around me.
My 2022 collection features a heavy dose of my fav subjects, water abstracts, intimate landscapes of trees, rock and dune forms, ice patterns, coastal scenes…
Locations feature Yosemite, Death Valley, Big Sur and my property in Ahwahnee, California.
Happy New Year. We wish you the gifts of Nature’s beauty and a year filled with peace, harmony and compassion.

“I can’t verbalize the internal meaning of pictures whatsoever. Some of my friends can at very mystical levels, but I prefer to say that, if I feel something strongly, I would make a photograph, that would be the equivalent of what I saw and felt.” -Ansel Adams
I’m feeling this today. I’ve been writing more than photographing lately, so I will let me new dune images speak for themselves…
