Recently Little Wren Pottery participated in a collaboration project with Tan France! I was requested to contribute a mug design for the Tan France project and in the end two of them were selected. I initially wanted to create something that had a modern geometric look yet still somehow softened by the look of glazes and choice of colours. The whole collection itself has a very relaxed feel and two tones of soft green were chosen to contrast with the Vanilla Cream. You can actually find Vanilla in the shop all year round as it’s one of my most popular base glazes. The tulip mug features a han ..read more

Rabbit yarn bowls

This past week Rabbit yarn bowls have now become available in my Etsy shop. I decided to limit the colour types for this yarn bowl removing the green and blue from the range of colours available. These yarn bowls feature a rabbit face with pink ears on one side and the yarn hook on the other. It’s ideal for stash busting to make a pom pom for your yarn bowl to look like a bunny tail! Rabbit yarn bowls are glazed to order so at the moment they’re taking around 1-2 weeks to complete for delivery. Also just a quick note about events. It’s starting to look like all events for 2020 are going to be ..read more

United States postage increases

Royal Mail announced this week that postage prices to the United States would be increasing from July 1st. A new postage zone has been created specifically for this which is now known as zone 3. Postage prices to other countries in the world has not changed only to the mainland U.S. I’ve now updated my postage prices specifically for this, it is unfortunately quite a big price rise which I’d be unable to absorb as a small business. Royal Mail state that the increase is due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The scheduling of aircraft for freight mail to the United States is becoming more difficult and ..read more

Postage transit times

It feels like things are getting back to ‘normal’ at the moment (does anyone remember what normal is at this point!). Anyway I’ve been making new work in the studio throughout the pandemic and you can still find the shop being updated every Friday. Unfortunately at the moment postage to the USA is taking a very long time. Postage to the United States is currently taking at least six weeks, at the moment I’m not expecting that delivery times will go down. For UK deliveries it seems like Royal Mail dispatching times are getting back to something that resembles normal in some areas. First class ..read more

Affirmation mugs

Recently in the studio I’ve been working on restocking mugs, they’re often the kind of thing that make great gifts and do tend to sell well in the shop. I generally sell mugs in pairs but I wanted to experiment a little and sell some single mugs. I find teatime to be, especially recently, quite comforting. Apparently it’s scientifically proven to be quite a relaxing too! I’d been thinking about making affirmation mugs for a while now but wondered if anyone would actually buy them so I guess this is an experiment. I’m also curious to see which phrase sells first. The idea is while your taking ..read more

If you’ve ordered from the shop lately you might be aware that I’ve been having problems with brilliant white. I ran out of it a few weeks ago and was struggling to get more. Orders in this colour are currently back ordered! It finally arrived this past Monday. I’ll be working through the orders currently outstanding next week. All the outstanding orders in brilliant white should be dispatching out on Thursday next week once both kilns have been unloaded. My local post office is still doing shortened hours so I’m currently still sticking to my twice weekly posting schedule at the moment. I’ll ..read more

A few months back I started experimenting on a project using ceramic transfers. It’s not something I’ve really ever had experience with both in the designing and application of them. Lately a regular customer of ours wanted a more complex design for some mugs handed out as awards. So as part of the project I designed a ceramic transfer, I actually learnt a lot just by doing this. The design of it wasn’t that difficult and I did the exporting for printing but it turns out larger transfers are more difficult to apply. Also the geometric shape of this is kind of unforgiving when it comes to the ..read more

I know it’s a hot topic right now and I’m just wanting to keep you all updated on what’s happening in the studio on a week to week basis. You can also keep an eye on what’s happening in the studio over on Instagram. At the moment I’m only posting out on a Tuesday and a Thursday to minimise time outside of the studio. Taking the postage in bulk really helps me at the moment to organise my work time in the studio. It means that most in stock items for orders placed over the weekend are dispatching on the Tuesday. If your item is made to order it’ll dispatch out when the kilns have been emptied ..read more

48 hour parcel suspension

This past week Parcelforce suspended it’s 48 hour parcel delivery option for larger boxes. This means big orders or large items travelling internally in the UK cannot be dispatched at this time. Currently I’m doing what I can to work around this wherever possible. It does mean larger orders are now being dispatched in multiple smaller boxes rather than one big one. This might seem confusing when you receive your order but don’t worry it’s all on its way to you! It does unfortunately mean though that dinnerware cannot be posted at this time due to the postage restrictions. It’s unclear when th ..read more

Fox and rabbit yarn bowls

With the discontinuation of a couple of the standard yarn bowl styles it’s created a few gaps in the collection. I’ve actually been working on a few new styles including the fox yarn bowl and the rabbit. It does take a long time in creating and then refining new designs. It can be a long process since creating prototypes can take 4 weeks at a time due to the making cycle. I think they’re starting to get to a point where they’re almost ready to be added into the shop as standard items so here’s a kind of ‘first look’ if you like. Before I take the fancy photos for the shop! The fox yarn bowl c ..read more
