When somebody close to you passes away, there are so many little things you have to do that you never would've expected. It's not enough that you're majorly grieving the loss of someone that you love with all your heart, but you also have to cancel their credit cards, nix all of their subscriptions, and figure out what to do with their things. Funeral arrangements are a common stressor, but people don't talk enough about how hard it is to wrap up someone's life in ways that aren't explicitly in their wills. There's nothing worse than losing a child, and a Canadian father recently went through ..read more

Memes to Shine a Light Upon

Lights always surround us. Maybe it's because I live in NYC, and as we all know, the city never sleeps, but I'm rarely in total darkness. There are streetlights outside my window, and that's the way I like it! I like that the light of the day shines into my bedroom, waking me up and preparing me for a fortuitous morn. The second my eyes open, I turn over and get a mandatory 30-minute session of blue light from my iPhone screen. I get all of that light before 8 AM, and that doesn't even begin to factor in light from the computer and light from light fixtures!  Some corners of the internet ..read more

Defiant dad falls asleep at work and keeps job, tells former colleague who was fired for the same thing to sue: 'He says they don't pay him enough'

In the harsh and unforgiving world of work, one of the best ways of coping with it all is having solidarity with your coworkers. Admittedly, this isn't always easy, but at the end of the day you probably have more in common with them than you do the big boss. This is especially true when it comes to getting penalized. In most jobs, nobody is truly safe from an impromptu firing and often favoritism and office politics can play a role.  This is something that has come to the viral attention of Twitter recently, after one daughter shared her father's workplace antics. Claiming he had been c ..read more

26 Most Entertaining Dad Jokes to Share at a Family Dinner Table

The dining room is filled with laughter and scrumptious aromas that emerge from the steaming roasted chicken sitting in the middle of the table. The mashed potatoes, fluffy and dotted with chives, sit beside the cooked vegetables. Your wife is sitting beside you, a satisfied smile playing on her lips as she takes a bite of the meal you two cooked up together. You had spent the afternoon prepping, giggling as you chopped carrots and argued playfully about the 'correct' level of garlic in certain dishes. But food isn't the only thing you have been cooking up… you have some dad jokes at the read ..read more

'You know who's gonna suffer here? This poor kid': New parents resolve to call their baby 2 different names after name argument stalemate

What's in a name? A lot, it turns out. Names carry so much baggage with them and it's on the parents to anticipate that ahead of time. Because your baby isn't going to be a baby forever. One day, they'll be an adult, and walk into a job interview with that dumb name you gave them on their resume. And you hope they succeed in spite of it. But even seemingly normal names can hold a lot of weight. I don't know why, but I've never gotten along with somebody named Victoria. Even the name sends a chill down my spine.  But what's worse than an objectionable name? No name at all. That ..read more

Another work week is coming to an end, and just like every week, I cannot wait for the weekend.  While I let myself relax for the weekends that have come and gone these past few months, I have now decided to make specific plans for my Saturdays and Sundays to make sure that I really take advantage of my time off. It seems now that the days feel much longer, with the sun only setting at around 8 pm every day, I have a much stronger will to seize the day and enjoy the outside. Plus, the warm weather does not hurt either. So this Saturday I have decided to bake one of my favorite chocolate ..read more

I'm glad we have a multigenerational internet. I understand that elder millennials miss the days when the internet was their own little young person, cool kids club, but times have changed, and we have to share the internet with people of all ages. The key is finding social media sites that are developmentally appropriate for a person of your age. I'm 24, so I'm still schlepping through the wild waters of Twitter, TikTok, and Instagram. If I were ten years younger, I would probably be spending a lot more time on Snapchat, and if I was ten years older, I might've actually had a MySpace account ..read more

When it comes to the tricky business of settling down, I'm all for women choosing to do whatever floats their boat. However, I have to say that personally, I would probably struggle to be a stay-at-home mom. Not only can it easily isolate you from the outside world, but it can also mean that your finances are entirely dependent on your partner. If things don't work out, you could have money struggles that extend far beyond divorce court. This was exactly what one woman's parents began to worry about when she gave up working after getting married and having her first child. While their daughte ..read more

The world we live in today couldn't survive without a few essential things, and one of these is computers. Sure, they might not be as essential as the air we breathe or clean drinking water, but these days billions of people have jobs, relationships, and lives that are entirely dependent on their access to this specific type of technology.  This means that taking on the responsibility of being a programmer is not something that anybody should take lightly. Whether it's a vocation or a hobby, you contribute in some small way to keeping everything up and running. Still, even those who are ..read more

Ah, the good old days, or were they? There's nothing quite like the nostalgic memories of yelling at your sibling to get off the phone so you could make a call, or trying to kick your annoying little brother off the internet just to check your email. And who can forget the chaos of getting ready for a road trip, realizing nobody printed out the MapQuest directions, and then everyone yelling at each other? Today's kids will never understand the struggles of living in a time with simpler technology. It was both a blessing and a curse. From sharing the same devices to inventing our own games to ..read more
