Happy new week my friends! It’s a gorgeous morning in Charlotte so I’m treating myself to a patio laptop session at Amelie’s with a half-caf latte (1 shot decaf espresso, 1 shot regular) with whole milk + a strawberry cheesecake tart that I’ll save for dessert tonight. I just wrapped up training clients at the gym and have a break before teaching yoga. This is going to be an all over the place update on what life has looked like since we returned home from our Easter trip to Florida. ALL THE RUNNING Spring has me feeling so motivated to lace up my running shoes and get out on the road. I ra ..read more

I made it back to Florida yesterday but this time with Finn in tow for an Easter/Spring Break trip. He hasn’t seen everyone since November and four months is a very long time when it comes to kids who seem to grow and change every day. My dad and Beau came to pick us up at the airport. Look at that smile on Finn’s face – just a little excited to be here! Mama, on the other hand, was a little worse for the wear. I have dealt with car sickness my whole life but I never, ever get sick on airplanes. Well, some perfect storm of looking right to chat with the person next to me, the plane dipping a ..read more

It’s a brand new week and I hope yours is off to a great start! It’s spirit week at preschool so I sent Finn off in the wackiest, tackiest outfit that he’d tolerate this morning. (I just laid a lot of options out on the bed and let him build an outfit.) Never mind that last week we dressed up for St. Patrick’s, the week before that was a Dr. Seuss theme week, the week (or two? I can’t keep track) prior was teacher appreciation week and we also had 100 days of school shirt day. I’m constantly asking myself – is there a special thing I need to remember for school? 9 times out of 10 I remember ..read more

A Very “Mom Life Is The Best Life” Kind of Week

Hi from Florida. I booked a last-minute flight to spend a long weekend with my family. Our last visit was Thanksgiving and that seems like forever ago. I really don’t like to go more than 2-3 months without seeing everyone. We were supposed to visit in February but our trip got cancelled the day-of due to sickness. It was disappointing but a very good thing that we were able to avoid spreading germs. I am here solo this trip. It’s always a little strange to be here without my sidekick but I’m also grateful for some one-on-one time with everyone along with an extra dose of rest and relaxation ..read more

Happy Monday and happy March! It’s hard to believe that we’re already four days into this fresh new month. Before we get too much farther in – I want to backtrack to February to give y’all a recap on my February Walking Challenge. FEBRUARY WALKING CHALLENGE RECAP Let’s start with the data first and then we’ll talk about feelings and what I learned from the challenge. I decided that I wouldn’t put extra pressure on myself to walk on days that I went for a run so there ended up being 7 days total that I ran instead of walked. THE STATS Days with a walk/run: 27 Days missed: 2 (rain one day, lif ..read more

Weekend + What I’ve Been Reading, Watching and Listening To

I hope you’ve enjoyed the weekend. Mine has been super low-key with lots of dog walking, some yoga practices, time at the gym, a trip to the farmers market and a visit with my little guy. I went to the farmers market on Saturday after training a client at the gym. While the winter market is much smaller and has less to offer than the spring/summer/fall markets – I still love to go. It’s nice to pick up some fresh veggies and local meats and to support my favorite local farmers year-round. This time of year, I typically only visit building A and stop to see my friends at Bluebird Farm (veggies ..read more
