I recently spent some time in one of my favourite American cities, New York City exploring some of their cafes for delicious baked goods and coffees.
Ole and Steen is a Danish bakery cafe chain from Denmark and I loved their Savoury swirl with spinach, cheese and seeds; Cinnamon Social – sweet pastry with cinnamon, vanilla custard and icing; Vanilla Spandauer – flakey pastry with vanilla custard and their coffee, had a Cortado.
Culture Espresso had delicious cookies as well. I had a cortado at this cafe located around the corner from my hotel that was close to Bryant Park.

Such a fun idea for Spring where Owner/Chef Jean-Francis Quaglia is featuring the Quelle Surprise from now through to April 15, $49 for two courses.
Each morning Chef Jean-Francis, and his Chef Team, will make a limited number of dishes from a rotating assortment of bistro favourites. Some days they will make a dozen orders of a particular Appy and Main and other days, depending on the availability of ingredients and what inspires them, they might make two dozen, or only ten.
I had a chance to taste several of the dishes at a media dinner, the portion size was smaller so that we ..read more

Serving freshly made savoury and sweet tamales, tacos, tortas, and other Mexican specialties. Their business was born during the pandemic where they started out making tamale in a commissary, fast track to now and they are selling their house-made tamales to grocery stores, through farmers markets, in their cafe and soon widely available wholesale to other restaurants and stores.
The cafe also features a live mariachi band playing every Saturday and ..read more

Experienced Miami Culinary Tours food and art deco tour in the South Beach area of Miami recently which took me to places I haven’t been to before. Our guide Mirka talked about how she had lived in the area for over 50 years and she knew the history of the changing area. She was informative and noted various facts along the way along with historical notes.
It was a multi-cultural tour in some way as we tasted and sipped Colombian, Cuban, Mexican and Italian food and drink around the area,
We visited Bolivar Restaurant and Bar that specializes in Colombian cuisine and tasted a delicious Cevic ..read more

We loved the Fully loaded Gol Gappe as our appetizer.

I recently took part in the art of Neapolitan pizza making with master chef Giuseppe Cortinovis based on the official style of AVPN (Associazione Verace Pizza Napoletana).
The newly launched Pizza Lab is located in Port Coquitlam at Jan K. Overweel and is offering classes to the public featuring many different styles of pizza. Each class is 3 hours and you will learn the entire process of the specific style of pizza.
Chef Giuseppe taught us how to make the dough from scratch, shaping the pizza, adding the toppings and baking in the oven. After the baking process was finished we got to ..read more
