The developer of a new condominium building, that will be built at 1516 2nd Avenue, estimates that they will start construction in the spring of 2020. The team behind the building are developer Plus Investment USA, contractor the Walsh Group out of Chicago and architect Hewitt of Seattle. The development sits in the middle of 2nd Ave between Pike and Pine streets, across the street from luxury condo tower Fifteen Twenty-One. The former site of Antioch University, on 6th Avenue between Bell and Battery streets, will officially be a two tower condominium project and will contain more than 900 condo units in two 45 story towers. The project will be called Seattle House. DETAILS:

In Belltown on 4th Ave and Bell St, where Mary's Place currently operates a shelter, there are plans to construct a new residential tower. It will be 29 stories and will contain 212 residential units, which will include a full floor of 3 bedroom homes, with office space and retail space that will wrap around the building including the alley. They hope to start construction in 18 months and complete the build 2 years following that. Washington State lawmakers passed a bill that will implement a graduated Real Estate Excise Tax (REET), which will go into effect in January 1, 2020. What does that new graduated REET mean to you? Currently, the state taxes property sales at a single rate of 1.28%, which is typically accompanied by an additional county tax. In King, Pierce and Snohomish counties, the additional county tax is 0.5%, making the total excise tax owed on a property sale in those counties 1.78%. The Civic Square project in Downtown Seattle has been riddled with delays since the project began and it continues to be today. A history lesson on this project:
2005: the building that was once on the lot was demolished and the block walled off
2007: Triad Capital Partners, a real estate developer, won the contract to develop the property
