The Truth About Cars
by Tim Healey
1d ago
Once again, we're taking a break on Monday to honor those who died fighting for freedom. We may also be getting outside, grilling, relaxing, seeing friends and/or family, watching Indycar, watching NASCAR, watching F1...you get the picture. Every year someone notes how what should be a solemn holiday turns into a weekend that's often anything but. People have fun, a lot of merch gets placed on sale, and the weekend is seen as the start of summer. I won't say more on that -- I just want you all to be safe and don't drink and drive. We'll see you back here on Tuesday. Happy Memorial Day, every ..read more

Rare Rides Icons: The Cadillac Eldorado, Distinctly Luxurious (Part XXVI)
The Truth About Cars
by Corey Lewis
1d ago
In our last Eldorado episode, we reviewed the interior changes made to the high-line Eldorado Brougham in its new-for-1959 guise. In the transition to more uniform product alignment with its Biarritz and Seville siblings, the Brougham lost almost all unique interior features. Its more formal pillarless hardtop roofline and smaller wings (a preview of 1960 Cadillacs) and a couple pieces of interior trim were what set the Brougham apart from other Cadillac sedans. However, the Brougham did have one new claim to fame: exotic Italian construction! (Note: Above is the 1958 clay prototype for the ..read more

EV Registrations Sit around 7 Percent in March
The Truth About Cars
by Matthew Guy
1d ago
Stats nerds at S&P Global Mobility have detailed some registration data for electric vehicles in this country through the first three months of this year – and the market share continues to sit at around 7 percent. With that  statistic in mind, we could have gone the clickbait route and used a headline shouting that “93 Percent of Americans Chose Not to Buy an EV” which would have been technically true but also rather bombastic and would have been an insult to our informed readers. It would be like saying “85 Percent of American Car Buyers Shunned General Motors” in the ..read more

Last year, GM’s Cruise operations shut down after high-profile accidents raised serious questions, and now, it’s Waymo’s turn under the microscope. The NHTSA said it recently learned of nine new incidents that give it concerns about Waymo’s autonomous vehicle o ..read more

The Truth About Cars
by Chris Teague

Ford cut Mustang Mach-E pricing earlier this year, achieving its intended result of boosting demand for the electric SUV. Now, the automaker is offering a zero-percent APR for qualified customers, making the vehicle even more affordable. The Blue Oval discounted some Mach-E variants by more than $8,000, pushing sales by 86 percent in the first quarter of 2024. Those numbers made it the second best-selling SUV in its class, topped only by the Tesla Model Y. A zero-percent interest rate will likely improve its fortunes, though it’s not eligible for federal tax credits as of the time of this ar ..read more

Kia Launches All-Electric EV3
The Truth About Cars
by Matthew Guy
1d ago
Drawing much in terms of style from the excellent EV9, the new EV3 will be Kia’s foray into the all-electric compact crossover segment. Shown today in its home market, the EV3 is likely to be popular with EV shoppers when it goes on sale in this country. For starters, it is a handsome thing with the scaled down visage of its big brother. Kia says the EV3 measures 169.3 inches long and 72.8 inches wide on a 105.5-inch wheelbase; this puts it in league with vehicles like the Volvo EX30. In fact, the EV3 is about five inches shorter than Kia’s own Niro but its cabin could be more spacious thanks ..read more

The Truth About Cars
by Matt Posky

Mitsubishi has said it plans to revive the brand in the United States. The stated strategy involves expanding its lineup and retail locations. While this is probably very exciting to those who recall driving any model equipped with the 4G63 engine, it might be wise to temper expectations. The changes being floated are relatively modest, with this being the first step in what could eventually become something bigger for the brand. That said, the company appears to be serious about setting things right inside America and may actually be in a unique position to pull this off. With new vehicle p ..read more
