The Smackdown crowd in Lyon, France was absolutely on fire. From the videos I’ve seen of the Backlash crowd before the show got underway, it looks like that will continue here. At this rate, I’m not expecting to see the United States hosting very many WWE pay-per-view events moving forward. These international crowds are making the American fans look awful.
I’m not sure what to expect here. On paper, all five matches look like they’ll be good. At the same time, a lot of people are looking at this like a glorified house show with matches that will be fun, but that have relatively obvious outcom ..read more

The company ran its Backlash event from the LDLC Arena in Décines-Charpieu, Lyon Metropolis, France earlier this morning, an event that set the record for largest gate of any WW arena show in history. This comes one day after WWE had its highest grossing SmackDown from the very same building.

A surprise debut at today’s WWE Backlash in France.
The show opened with The Bloodline (Tama Tona is & Solo Sikoa) taking on Kevin Owens and Randy Orton in tag team action. The four men brawled before the bell could even ring, and it appeared the match was going to get thrown out. That was until Nick Aldis came out and declared that the match would occur under No-DQ rules.
What followed was a vicious back and forth battle that saw tables, chairs, trash cans, and other plunder used. It appeared that Owens and Orton had the match won, until Tama’s brother, Tonga Loa, pulled the referee from ..read more

David Finlay is once again your NJPW IWGP Global Heavyweight Champion.
The leader of Bullet Club War Dogs defeated Nic Nemeth (fka as Dolph Ziggler in WWE) at today’s Wrestling Dontaku event, ending the Most Wanted Man’s reign at just 71 days. Nemeth did have one successful attempt in that time, but was unable to overcome Finlay this time around. This makes Finlay a two-time Global Heavyweight Champion. His first reign, which Nemeth ended, began at this year’s WrestleKingdom 18 event from the Tokyo Dome.

Paul “Triple H” Levesque shared a post on social media during the WWE Backlash: France “go-home” episode of Friday Night SmackDown last night regarding a noise complaint that WWE received due to the crowd reactions.
The @WWEUniverse in France literally received a warning about the noise level tonight at #SmackDown @LDLC_Arena. Absolutely insane.
