Barcelona: Casa Batllo - 9am vs 9:45am -- how important?
Hi,
We are a family of 4 visiting Barcelona for the 1st time beginning June 10th! We want to visit Casa Batllo. I have 2 questions.
#1 How important are getting the 'gold' tickets?
#2 Tickets for the 4 of us are for 9am cost 168 euros VS 9:45am cost 144 Euros. I know it would be less crowded at 9am! Is it worth the extra money for the 9am time?
Thanks!

Hi Laurarick,
I just returned home from Barcelona and bought the 9:00am Gold ticket to Casa Batllo. My overall recommendation is to swap out the Gold ticket for the Silver or even Blue. Here are a few of my reasonings:
1) FastPass: I enjoyed my walk to the site a little too much and took too many photos of the exterior, because when I finally found the Gold line it was 9:00am on the dot. The line was long and I was the last Gold ticket holder to enter with one lone Silver ticket-holder following me. It was already crowded when I entered every room.
2) The Gaudi Dome experience was not a must-do for me.
3) The virtual reality tablet could have been fun (might be more so for kids), but I was more enthralled by the audioguide and taking my own photos. It felt like a ton of tech to juggle in each space and I dropped a few devices multiple times. I would prefer a cleaner experience. I think the audio tour is helpful and interesting and entertaining to a degree.
4) The private residence of the Batllos did nothing for me and I felt myself zooming to get on with the rest of the tour.
My caveat is I'm a museum professional and spend my life in museums so I am pretty quick to make snap judgements about my experience. I hope this helps, but I do know any visit is worth it, because I immensely enjoyed the interior and exterior of the home and learning about the family and Gaudi's design choices.
