Train From Sorrento to Rome in Late September
Trying to figure out which train station to take out of Sorrento via the Naples stop to Rome Termini in late September? If I want to leave around 11:00 from Sorrento, Trenitalia states I can only leave Sorrento at 1:12pm. Any suggestions, websites or insights on how to book this? Thank you!

It's not a single train from Sorrento to Rome. You take one train to Napoli Centrale and a second train to Roma Termini.
Sorrento to Naples... Two options. Circumvesuviana or Campania Express. Both use the same station in Sorrento and arrive at the same place at Napoli Centrale. The Circumvesuviana runs more frequently, makes more stops and takes 15-20 minutes longer (1:10 hours)... 3,60 euros. The Campania Expess is nicer when traveling with luggage... 8,00 euros.

While that Sorrento website says 8€, the train website says 15€ one way.
Both are the same train company (same train line), but the Campania Express caters to tourists that want to stop at the sites between Sorrento and Naples. It runs far less often so that may be an issue for you. The Circumvesuviana runs much more often. You want the Napoli Garibaldi stop.

When you arrive at Napoli Garibaldi you will need to go upstairs as the trains to Rome depart from there.

The campania train leaves Sorrento and gets into Napoli P.Garibaldi at 11:32. What time should I book the high speed train, which will give us enough time to rush to the upper level to catch the high speed train to Rome Termini? Thank you again!

There are fast trains at 12:09 and 12:30. From mid-July to near the end of October, there's another fast train at 11:55.

Italo also runs fast trains from Naples Centrale to Rome. The prices at lunch time (12:15)seem to be higher(47€) though while other times of the day you can find 19€.

Trenitalia shows fast trains at 11:30, 11:40, 11:55, 12:09, 12:30,12:40,12:55 for a random date in Sept. Your ticket will be only for the specific train you purchase. You would need to check your exact date.

The fast trains are usually in the station 10-15 minutes, but it can be a trek to your car depending on how long the train is. I would probably allow time to grab some drinks or food to take onboard. On Trenitalia, I like to select seats with a table (shows a gray bar in front of the seat when doing a dummy booking on their website) and close to the end of the car (not the end by the bathroom). I prefer the tables over the seats with pull down trays (like on a plane).

I just checked my train tickets and my one Campania express ticket from Sorrento takes me to Napoli Garibaldi. But now looking at my second ticket it looks like I was booked from Napoli Centrale to Rome an hour after I arrive at Garibaldi. Any help on what to do?

The Circumvesuviana train you are taking arrives on a lower level of the train station. You take the escalator up to street level of the station for your train to Rome.
Here's the schedule for the Circumvesuviana trains with stops/stations listed. Your train times are in red.

Thanks! I made the Campania Express to the Napoli Garibaldi (lower level) and took the escalator up to the Napoli Centrale. I probably would’ve had a much harder time if I hadn’t received the great help from this thread But, I have to say….the Sorrento train station was very confusing. No real helpful in English signage and throngs of passengers trying to figure out what was going on. What I figured out was that the older looking train with all the graffiti was the Circomvesuviana (many stops…no room for luggage). And the train with no graffiti was the Campania Express.
I felt that way about the Naples train station as well. Sort of confusing, but I had enough time to figure out which escalators to take up and which to not. I saw many tourists much like myself go up one and come back down. I found only one information desk. And they steered me in the right direction. On the other hand…Rome Termini was a breeze. Definitely lots of help and with lots of signage that made sense.
