Self-guided hiking in Provence and then what?
I'm doing very preliminary research for a week of self-guided inn-to-inn hiking in Provence next June. We've been doing that in England over the past several years and have loved the combination of a week of hiking in the country and then going into London for 3 or 4 days. So I was thinking of something similar with Provence and Paris. But I've been to Paris a few times (I know, I know, I'm not saying that's ever enough) and just wondered if I should instead try to combine it with something else.
But what that "else" would be I don't know. I'm feeling overwhelmed with the possibilities! Would it be possible to arrange for extra days without renting a car or would that be foolish since we'd miss out on so much? Would staying in Provence make the most sense and experiencing more of it in maybe Aix or another city or town - would that be a good option without a car? Or would taking a train to another region for a few days be nice for contrast - or for only say 4 more days is that not enough, too much time lost in transit?
I've been doing a lot of reading of other people's requests for advice and past trip reports trying to find something that will spark an "aha! we'll do that!" but I'm still feeling clueless.
So, knowing that only I can decide what I want to do (please don't feel the need to point that out, I get it!) would anyone have any thoughts on a possible plan?
TIA
