Athens - Transportation & Money
My husband, daughter and I will be arriving in Athens on a Saturday afternoon in June and will only be staying 1 night. (We depart on a cruise Sunday evening.) I am the only one who has been to Athens before, however it was 25 years ago. I'm sure things have changed so I'm hoping for some guidance and advice about transportation and money.
Transportation: What is the best transportation from the airport to our hotel when we arrive (Hotel is Brown Lighthouse if that matters) and from the cruise ship terminal on the following Sunday back to the airport (we are flying on to London afterwards)? Does this need to be secured in advance?
Also, what about cash? Do we need to get some Euros at the airport before heading to our hotel or can we pay with credit card everywhere (even taxi cars)? I know cash isn't a necessity in London, for example, and even cabs take cards, so not sure if it's the same in Athens. Since we are only in Athens less than 24 hours, I want to be smart and prepared. If we do need some, do they have ATM's in the airport? Thanks in advance!

ATH - Athens Brown LIghthouse: metro (blue lline) or bus up to Syntagma, then metro (red line) to Omonia.
You may furthermore take a Piraeus bound train up to Athens railway station and reach Omonia from there by metro (red line).
Cruise Terminal: either taxi from the hotel or metro red line up to Piraeus plus taxi.
There is also a direct bus from Piraeus harbour (but not from the cruise Terminal!) to the airport.
But taxis will bring you anywhere in the port aera and up to the airport.
