Upcoming INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE Series Sires Itself A New Director

Hollywood bigwig Alan Taylor is officially sired onto AMC’s series adaptation of Interview with the Vampire. Taylor is the Emmy-winning director behind Thor: The Dark World, as well as episodes of Mad Men and The Sopranos.

Interview with the Vampire is a well-loved gothic horror property dating back to the 1976 Anne Rice novel. It’s since spawned a whole series of books, two films, a stage show, and other various adaptations. Now Interview with the Vampire is back for a large-scale AMC series which will be executively produced, in part, by Anne Rice and her son Christopher Rice.

Variety is reporting that Alan Taylor has officially signed on to direct the first two episodes of the upcoming eight-episode series. He will also join the Rice clan as an executive producer on the first season of the gothic romance. Taylor earned an Emmy for his work on the final season of HBO’s The Sopranos.

AMC seems especially pleased with the hire. Dan McDermott, AMC’s president of original programming had this to share:

We are assembling a true dream team of talent on ‘Interview with the Vampire,’ from Rolin Jones to Mark Johnson and now with the addition of Alan, a director with a body of work that could basically break IMDb, not to mention Anne Rice’s extraordinary stories and characters, which have captivated so many millions of fans from around the world. We are so excited to be where we are on this series, and there is so much more to come.

Summary for the novel:

The story centers on vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac, who tells the story of his life to a reporter. Anne Rice wrote the story right after the death of her young daughter Michelle, who served as an inspiration for the child-vampire character Claudia.

Interview with the Vampire will span eight episodes and will debut in 2022 on both AMC and AMC Plus.
