Frank Darabont Wins $200M in WALKING DEAD Lawsuit Settlement

Frank Darabont is one of the original writers of AMC’s hit series The Walking Dead. Despite being a legendary filmmaker and one of the few to consistently produce incredible films based on the works of Stephen King (The Shawshank Redemption, The Mist, The Green Mile), Darabont was fired during the show’s second season.

Darabont responded to his firing by suing AMC for over $280M claiming he’s owed contingent profits; he also claimed he was owed money for The Talking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead as derivative productions. AMC responded by claiming Darabont’s claims had “no basis in reality“.
The long-brewing legal drama was delayed during the pandemic, but today brings news that AMC has settled out of court–and Darabont will be getting paid a whopping $200M!
Deadline broke the news reporting:
“The Settlement Agreement provides for a cash payment of $200 million (the “Settlement Payment”) to the plaintiffs and future revenue sharing related to certain future streaming exhibition of The Walking Dead and Fear The Walking Dead,” says the understated filing.

The Walking Dead returns to AMC on August 22nd for what will be the show’s 11th and final season.
